At only 2-days-old, Ethan was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia, a congenital heart disease. Today, at 9-years-old, Ethan is still fighting his battle, however in November 2012 Ethan and his family were able to temporarily forget about his illness and gain a little more hope, strength and joy when Make-A-Wish® Oklahoma granted Ethan’s wish to go on a Royal Caribbean Cruise.
Ethan was able to make extraordinary memories to last a lifetime. These activities included swimming with dolphins, kissing stingrays, watching an ice show, and participating in a Walk for Wishes onboard the ship. Some of Ethan's favorite characters include Spongebob and Patrick, so he was excited to see where they lived underwater!
During the onboard Walk for Wishes on Day 7, participants could walk 2 miles around the top deck of the ship with a beautiful view of the ocean and purchase t-shirts. All proceeds during this walk benefited Make-A-Wish®.
Ethan’s 7-day Western Caribbean Cruise made stops in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, allowing the family to experience a relaxing, tropical getaway during the colder Oklahoma winter months. Ethan’s favorite part of the trip was swimming with the dolphins and kissing the stingrays, and his least favorite part was leaving. Ethan and his family had an amazing trip; they were able to embrace some well-deserved relaxation, enjoy time together as a family, and create powerful memories.
