Throughout the year, Make-A-Wish® Oklahoma offers a variety of unpaid internships to provide opportunities for students and recent graduates, to receive academic credit and/or valuable work experience in the nonprofit field. Students must be a junior or senior to apply.
Fundraising/Events Intern - OKC & TULSA
Focus on fundraising, with possible experience in event planning, donor solicitation, data management, individual and corporate donations, public relations including media relations for wish children and events.
Marketing and Communications Intern - OKC & TULSA
Focus on implementing a communications plan for entire organization, assist in the design and creation of collateral pieces, stewardship materials, news releases, and email campaigns. This position also includes wish storytelling and producing high-quality videos/photos and of wish experiences to help support our mission and fundraising goals.
Intake & Wish File Management Intern - OKC office only
Focus on Wish Referral intake while supporting the Intake & Wish Referral Manager with all outreach and referral needs. There is a lot of interaction with medical professionals and wish families.
Volunteer Management Intern - OKC office only
All with a focus on volunteer recruitment, training, communication, and management, in support of our wish children. There is a lot of interaction with wish families, children and volunteers.
Wish-Granting Intern - OKC office only
Focus on Wish Granting, with services to and for our wish children and their families. There is a lot of interaction with wish families and volunteers in the planning of wish experiences.
Executive Operations & Development Intern - OKC office only
Assist our development team and CEO by conducting research, seeking out potential speaking engagements, planning fundraising events and activities, etc.
Internship Calendar and Application
Interns are accepted on a continual basis throughout the year, depending on internship availability. There is a minimum of a 10-week commitment of at least 12-15 hours each week. Application is made by sending a current resume with address and phone number, a cover letter and a completed application to the appropriate Internship Coordinator. Please indicate the time frame available and any curriculum requirements. We accept applications year-round, but spots fill up quickly so send your application as soon as possible. We do not have deadlines for application, but below will give you an idea of when to apply based on when you would like to complete your internship.
Spring Interns are typically selected by December. Start date will be in January and End date will be May the week before Finals. We recommend applying between October-December, the earlier the better.
Summer Interns are typically selected by April. Start date will be in May and End date will be mid-August, unless an extra-curricular activity requires a student to return to school earlier and it has been approved by the Internship Manager prior to accepting internship. We recommend applying between January-March - the earlier, the better.
Fall Interns are typically selected by July. Start date will be mid-August and End date will be in December the week before Finals. We recommend applying between April and June, the earlier, the better.
