Sergio is a fun, vivacious 16 year old, who is always full of spirit and energy. Sergio was diagnosed with a life-threatening neurological disorder six years ago, and while his medical situation has changed, his positive spirit remains the same.
Sergio’s family is primarily Spanish-speaking, so when our volunteer Wish Translators went to meet with them, many options were discussed. However, when Sergio said the word “mariachi” there was a light in his eyes no one could ignore.
Once his “one true wish” was discovered, the planning for Sergio’s Backyard Mariachi Fiesta began! When party day arrived, the catering and tres leches cake were arranged, the piñatas were filled with treats and candy for the kids, and the decorations were placed perfectly to transform the family’s backyard into a space perfect for a fiesta! However, nothing else mattered when the 11 member Mariachi band came through playing one of Sergio’s favorite songs.
The rest of the night was spent with the family and guests eating, dancing, and watching Sergio’s one true heartfelt wish come true.
A special thanks to all of our community vendors that helped make this wish happen! We would like to extend a special thank you to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for providing the meal for the party! Many thanks also to Aylor Photography, Veazy’s Party Rental, Mariachis Orgullo de America, and Make-A-Wish Volunteers Ronald and Magally for helping create such a magical wish!
