Fifteen-year-old Andrew is a musical star. As an accomplished pianist, Andrew knows that music has the power to heal, inspire, and ultimately, give a person hope – no matter their situation. Andrew has been diagnosed with a life threatening autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks the blood vessels in the lungs and kidneys. Despite his diagnosis, Andrew remains optimistic and focused on the music and career he is so passionate about.
After qualifying to receive a wish through Make-A-Wish Oklahoma, Andrew knew there was one thing he wanted more than anything – to give back to his friend, mentor, and piano teacher – Mr. Fisher. After details were arranged, friends and family gathered outside a local music store, waiting for the cue to march into Mr. Fisher’s piano lessons. Secretly organized by Make-A-Wish and Andrew’s family, the class being held was just a scheme to reveal Andrew’s surprise “one true wish.” Andrew revealed that while his wish was to have a piano, that request wasn’t for him. He wanted the piano for someone else; his very special music teacher, Mr. Fisher.
Make-A-Wish CEO, Katie Fitzgerald had this to say about Andrew’s wish, “That this young man, who has been facing his own journey of adversity with his own illness, would —given the opportunity to have any wish that he wants — choose to give that wish to someone else, is just incredibly special.”
Andrew’s wish became a reality thanks to many generous supporters – thank you to Trusted Choice, Make-A-Wish America, Edmond Music, Steven Giles Clothing, Underwood Collective, Fast Signs, Jonathan Hane, Marc Neufeld MS, LLC, Landon Klein, and the Make-A-Wish Oklahoma Board of Directors for making this unique wish possible!
