Make-A-Wish Oklahoma® Celebrates 35 Years Of
Granting Wishes By Launching 35-For-35 Campaign
Yes, 35 People Can Make A Real Difference In Oklahoma Lives
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (March 22, 2017) – Make-A-Wish Oklahoma (MAWO) is turning 35 years old this year. And to celebrate the milestone, and the granting of nearly 2,800 wishes to Oklahoma kids, Make-A-Wish Oklahoma is launching 35-for-35, a yearlong fundraising and awareness campaign.
What has 35 years of making wishes come true done for MAWO? Make them want to do that much more. Introducing 35-for-35, a campaign that identifies 35 individuals (Wish Kids, families, volunteers, supporters, friends, community partners etc.) who pledge to take the Make-A-Wish Oklahoma story statewide, raising awareness for its cause and resources for its continuing efforts.
Make-A-Wish America has issued a challenge grant to match the first $175,000 for every new dollar MAWO raises through its 35th Anniversary effort. And every dollar raised stays in Oklahoma to grant wishes to Oklahoma kids.
How can 35 people have such a tremendous effect on so many in our state? Get the right 35 people. Those 35 will be asked to be a champion of MAWO for one year, and all that entails, including: building a team, networking, training and strategizing, appearing on TV, radio, print and digital, telling MAWO’s story, engaging new and lapsed donors, activating their own social channels for word-of-mouth communications and fundraising efforts, conducting speaking engagements, hosting and attending events, and giving.
“We have been very blessed to do incredible work for so many Oklahoma families over the past 35 years,” said Kendra Loper, director of development and communications for Make-A-Wish Oklahoma. “While we celebrate this anniversary and those accomplishments, we are excited to launch 35-for-35 and make this year the best in Make-A-Wish Oklahoma history.”
